Almarode photography got its start almost 30 years ago when a camera was first placed in A.C. (Sparky) Almarode’s hands.  In the beginning as with most photographers this was a hobby that quickly consumed much of his free time.

 While working for Kershaw County Memorial Hospital in another capacity, he volunteered to do photography for the hospital’s monthly employee newsletter.  Before long, he was photographing newborn babies in the hospital nursery and staff members began asking him to photograph their weddings.  Word spread through friends and family and he stayed fairly busy on a part time basis photographing weddings, children, and doing portrait work in a make shift studio set up in a spare bedroom of his house.

Over the years, A.C. (Sparky) Almarode has continued photographing people, places, and events.  He has worked as a volunteer photographer for the Camden Fire Department responding to structure fires photographing the fire scene and documenting evidence.  In 2002 A.C. (Sparky) Almarode spent six months in Arizona working for the U.S. Forest Service as a photographer and fire information officer on the Rodeo-Chediski wildfire.  This was a 500,000 acre fire, the largest in Arizona’s recorded history and the 10th largest in the nation at the time.

In early 2006 Sparky decided to move out of the bedroom studio and constructed a large facility on property next to his residence.  This studio is large enough to handle groups of people as well as motorcycles and other toys that you might want to have memories made with.  The dressing room / bathroom can accommodate a bride and a couple of helpers with room to spare.

This is a full service studio specializing in wedding, portrait, children, pets, portfolio, and boudoir photography.  There is a large selection of backdrops and props available with modern lighting equipment and the latest in film and digital technology.

In addition to studio sessions, A.C. Almarode has several great locations in and around historic Camden, SC.  Sitting fees begin at $45.00 for three people or less for studio or location photography.  Wedding packages start at $ 950.00.
